A photo of Merrit's Creek near Thredbo in the Snowy Mountains.
It's probably my favourite place to photograph of all time, just because the colours are so great, and the light is so diffused, I'll have to come back in the summertime and shoot it up near the top amongst the daises.

This exposure is copyrighted, so no silly buggers. Kay?

this shot is stunning! i love how the water sort of just fades into nothingness around the edges, almost like a little pond of fog or "liquid glory" as you put it :)

And I can't believe that this shot is from a Nikon 3100. :faint: It's written at the camera data. Believe me, this is a compliment. Shots like this usually come out from single-digits camera models, but, dude, yours is not. It's actually for beginners, yet, this looked professional. :la: I can say you're a good photographer :icongreatjobplz: Keep it up! ;p God bless :)

I s'pose it just goes to show that image quality relies so much more on the photographer than the camera (not meant to sound pretentious, but it may have). I am, in my own eyes, still very much a beginner, and for this photo, all I did was set the tripod up and take a pano (something I do almost by default) Certainly the results are somewhat spectacular (again not meant to sound pretentious, and I apologise if it does) but I attribute it far more to the location than to me or the camera.
That is an awesome compliment though and it may have actually made my day.
The only reason I got the D3100 and not the D90 or D700 is because it is the only one I could actually afford. I think it's also good to keep in mind that this is only one (or three) photos that I have taken out of 17000+ I've made since I recieved the camera nine months ago, so that's not a spectacular success rate. I can also attruibute it to my knowing how to manipulate the software and colour correction settings, to make the image look pretty, because quite frankly, images taken from the D3100 almost always look washed out and bad. or maybe that's just the 18-55mm lens..
I have entered it into Fine Art Photography, just to see how I go, so fingers crossed :)

No, it doesn't pretentious. I know that photography relies on 90% of the photographer's skills and 10% of the camera. :D That what makes you good! :la: Of course expensive cameras make good images but, yeah, I thought you used a professional camera for this. :la:
Again, I compliment you.
You will be better, I swear. :) God bless, my friend! ;)

It would be fun going for a swim in there, incredibly cold and it'd only get up to your knees, but fun.

You'd just need to be careful not to swallow any of the water, you might get giadia.
